DSM badges
The Rewards
Similar to the Boy Scout and Girl Guide Movements, we have a recognition program whereby owners and dogs work together to earn merit badges in various areas of training or services.
Each DSM member will have to achieve the TENDERPAW Badge before venturing into attaining the various Merit Badges. There are Merit Badges for Community Service, Therapy Work, as well as many dog activities, like Agility, Camping, Hiking, to earn merit badges, the Scout and owner work together as a team, under the guidance of a certified Scoutmaster.
A DSM member who has completed/passed an activity in each of the 10 Sections will be awarded the DOG SCOUT Badge.
TOP DOG SCOUT Badge shall be awarded to the DSM member who has achieved all Merit Badges. This is indeed the highest award given to any DSM member.
You can also get free Leadership Training or earn merit badges at Dog Scout Camps, or Mini-Camps. The Dog Scout Certification is also offered through mini-seminars, which you might be able to host in your area, if you have enough people interested in the activities. Kindly contact DSM for more information on how to accomplish this.
Junior Scout Program for Kids is a wonderful program for children to become involved. It teaches kids responsibility, and very important life lessons. It helps them build self-esteem, giving them a chance to get-in and participate; a place of belonging and a chance to do something good; both for his or her canine friend and the community. Kids will feel proud of their accomplishments. The child can train the dog, and learn all that he or she can become a future responsible owner. Children aged 6 - 17 can teach their dogs obedience and good manners.

A DSM member who has completed/passed one exercise from each section will be rewarded with the “DOG SCOUT BADGE”
