DONATION & FIRST AID SEMINAR

This section shall cover the various different activities our Dog Scout Members are involved in. We hope that you will enjoy this section as much as we have.

DONATION TO FURRY FRIENDS

Donations/sponsorship were made on 2 weekend occasion i.e. 14th & 21st April 2007 to Furry Friends Farm. Sabrina Yeap & Joy are the representative from Furry Friends to accept the sponsorship from our fellow Dog Scout Members which was both in kind and cash.

This is our first interaction with another organisation and we intend to involve ourselves more helping the non-pedigrees before they are being adopted by responsible owners.

FIRST AID SEMINAR

FIRST AID SEMINAR - was held on two occasions. The first part was a Seminar held on 21st April 2007 where Dr. Amilan gave handouts with a Q&A sessions of which all the Dog Scout Members enjoyed immensely. It was both very interesting and informative at the same time. Dr. Amilan had both theory and practical sessions with our members of which they will be tested on both sections on 12th May 2007.

Members had to prepare their own First Aid Kit and to go home and practice bandaging and taking temperature and heartbeat rate on their own dogs.

DONATION DINNER PARTY

This was an impromtu dinner where all the donors were apparently free on that evening and therefore the Donation Dinner was held.

PRACTICAL SESSION

HOME-A-PET PROGRAMME

SPCA and PAWS collectively set up tents for their HOME-A-PET Programme.  Our Dog Scout members helped out by giving a Drill Performance and Frisbee Catching Demonstration to draw-in more crowd and create an interest of having fun with your lovable pets. WELL DONE GUYS !

Here's some write up by SPCA on the event :-

SPCA's Satellite Adoption & Info Booth in IKANO Power Center was a remarkable success!

Held from the 23rd of May to the 15th of June, every Thursday to Sunday during these weeks were fun-filled and highly gratifying, not just for the wonderful Volunteers who assisted us,
but for the animals whose lives were saved!
59 animals were adopted during SPCA's 3-week stint in Damansara Jaya, 17 puppies, 33 kittens, 2 dogs, 5 cats and 2 rabbits found happy homes, while 4 kittens and 3 puppies taken in by fosterers. This is a 60% increase in SPCA's monthly adoption rate!

Funds raised through merchandise sales and donations totaled to a whopping RM5300!
SPCA would like to thank IKANO Power Center for their support and continuous assistance in helping us save more lives. We would also like to wish a huge thank-you to the great Volunteers who stood by our cause and helped us. All love and happy smiles is always highly appreciated, and with our collective efforts more animals will be understood and more lives will be saved everyday.

Videos were taken and can be viewed at VIDEO CLIPS .

THEORY EXAM

Theory Exam is the 2nd part which consists of 50 marks. This part comes both in subjective and objective questions. All our members did very well.

SEKOLAH RENDAH USJ 12

On 21st June 2008, the Dog Scout Members were invited for the first time in K-9 history to join-in a local School Funfair.  This was held at Sekolah Rendah USJ 12 in Subang, Selangor.  The Dog Scouts had to endure from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. being hugged, petted and being pulled around by kids who so much wanted them to perform agility and obedience with the dogs.

The Dog Scouts also took photos with the kids of which were printed on the spot for RM2.00.  The Dog Scouts collected a total of RM102.50 for the School Funfair. All in a hard day's work.

It was all worth it when at first the kids were quite reserve and after a while they were having fun and smiles on their faces and started hugging the dogs.  Some dogs even got kisses before the day ended.

Thanks to all the Dog Scouts which put in so much effort.

CERTIFICATION OF PASS & BADGE PRESENTATION

All our members passed with flying colors. Our youngest member scored the highest getting 89 /100. WELL DONE !
